1.4      IMS Operational Cycle

IMSprovide a task-oriented implementation of mapping concepts. Surveying by IMS consists of three steps, which are essentially the same as for any mobile mapping system.

  • Data acquisition and analyzing 3D space (CV calculation)
  • Positioning of objects in a mapping frame using a photogrammetric workstation
  • Geo-referencing of the images using data from the navigation sensors (GPS)

ALV for ArcGIS

 

In Active Link Vision (ALV), 3D geospatial video runs inside the docking window of ArcMap with each frame linked to geographic coordinates. ALV provides real interaction between 2D and 3D environments; users can do measurement, add computer graphics, and tags, and store information in a geodatabase.

 

Integration with ArcGIS

  • ALV and ArcGIS share the Common Geo-database
  • The database in 2D and 3D environment share the Common Attribbutes
  • 2D and 3D objects are managed in the same ArcGIS layer
  • Close interaction of features and data between ALV and ArcGIS. The 3D object is saved and displayed as a feature of ArcGIS.

 

Functions in 3D Video GIS

  • Information Management in 3D video (Geo-Tag Object)
  • 3D Coordinate Measurement and  measurement of the distance, the area, the slope and azimuth in the video
  • Inserting the 3D Computer Graphic inside the video with 3D coordinate
  • Digitizing the scene by drawing the point, polyline and polygon
