The Ranger Series

The new Ranger series is all about range and accuracy. Built around the newest LIDAR sensing technology with a range of up to 920m, the requirements to the GNSS/Inertial Navigation System's orientation accuracy become much more stringent.

For this reason, the Ranger utilizes state-of-the-art fiber-optic gyro technology, halving heading inaccuracies when compared with the best available MEMS options.

A heading-receiver is offered as an option to ensure reliable and fast initialization on low-speed and/or highly holonomous vehicles.

For simultaneous photogrammetry, a wide range of high-quality digital cameras can be connected directly to the Scout. During flight, photos can be captured manually or based on time or traveled distance. After landing, all images are georeferenced and time-tagged with millisecond-precision.

Other external sensors can be integrated using the 16pin I/O connector, which also supplies protected 5V and 12V power.

If desired, our software can extract the system's trajectory and - instead of directly creating LAS files - export it into Riegl's software suite, which can then be used to post-process LIDAR data.

All systems can be used for mobile mapping in airborne and ground missions. When satellite reception is lost for extended durations, optional post-processing software (NovAtel's Inertial Explorer) can be used to compute forward and reverse solutions, thereby recovering an accurate and smooth trajectory.
